Smooth Moves
Smooth Moves are clear, vacuum-formed retainers that are best suited to correct anterior rotations, close small spaces and achieve labial and lingual tipping in the upper and lower cuspid to cuspid areas.
Smooth Moves uses two aligners per set up for each phase of movement.
The first aligner is the key to this dramatic tooth movement. It is a dual laminate material which provides controlled, predictable tooth movement. It is easy to seat and fairly comfortable to wear. The benefit of using the Durasoft material for the first Aligner is that you can achieve greater tooth movement (up to 1 mm) than with an all-hard tray system (often .7 mm).
The second aligner is an all hard tray that completes the movement for the setup and also serves as a final retainer.
Aligner #1: 1.8 mm Durasoft (hard/soft flexible material)
Aligner #2: 1 mm Invisacryl Ultra (hard material)
Each aligner is worn 2-3 weeks depending on the case.
If after six weeks of patient compliance, more movement is needed, just send another impression and the process is repeated.
You are not locked in to a fixed amount of phases which gives you the flexibility to work with each patient's budget and treatment level preferences.
